Member places in International Tango Trot Competition
Longtime member Lydia Tutu of Sleepy Hollow won fourth place in the senior division of the International Tango Trot Competition held in Buenos Aires this year. The contest is held in Tarrytown and Buenos Aires in alternating years. Said Ms. Tutu, “I could never have won at the Tarrytown venue because I’m from Sleepy Hollow. But the Argentines think Sleepy Hollow must be exotic and they think I’m pals with Johnny Depp."
Congratulations Lydia.
Member wins 1st place in Bear Mountain Yodelling Conpetition
ITAV member F. Smithers Dickinson won first place in the Bear Mountain Yodeling Competition. He said that he learned the art by going to Pete Seeger concerts. After learning that the yodel is not native to America, he withdrew to an alpine meadow where he spent three months alone with a herd of goats as he perfected his art there. Smitty, as he is known by friends and family, plans to compete in the Swiss Yodelfest, the pinnacle competition of the art. What will he do with the prize money if he wins? “Put it in a Swiss bank account. I'm not stupid."
